Working with us
How to start a project, who we work with, what to expect.
What's the smallest project you'll take on?+
Around $1,500 — typically a single logo, a one-page landing site, or a small print piece. Anything smaller usually doesn't justify the discovery overhead for either side. For ongoing small jobs we recommend a retainer (see below).
What's the biggest project you can handle?+
Six-figure brand + web rebuilds for established businesses, 12-week timelines. For larger multi-discipline engagements that need more than design — like 6-month full marketing operations — we'll route you to Avant Garde Launchpad, our parent operation.
Do you only work with Miami clients?+
No — about a third of our clients are in Miami / South Florida, the rest are nationwide. We're remote-first. Brand and web projects are 100% remote-friendly. Photo/film and print projects sometimes benefit from in-person, which we coordinate.
Do you take on competing brands?+
We don't take on direct competitors at the same time. If you're a Miami coffee brand and we just signed another Miami coffee brand, we'll tell you and either delay your project or pass.
How do we get started?+
Send a message through the contact form or email hello@avantgardemedia.com. We respond within 24 hours, book a 30-minute intro call, and send a tailored proposal within a week of that call.
Pricing & timelines
How we quote, how we bill, how long things take.
Why is your pricing posted publicly?+
Because hiding it wastes everyone's time. If our ranges are wildly outside your budget, you should know before our first call. If they're in the ballpark, we can have a real conversation about scope instead of dancing around money.
Do you charge hourly or fixed?+
Fixed-price, almost always. Hourly billing punishes us for being fast and confuses you about what things actually cost. The only exception is ongoing retainer work, which is monthly.
How do payments work?+
50% deposit to start, balance net-30 from final delivery for projects under $25K. For larger projects we'll break it into milestone payments. We use Stripe for invoicing — cards, ACH, or wire all work.
What if the project scope changes mid-flight?+
Small adjustments (extra revision round, an additional template) we usually absorb. Real scope changes (adding a whole new page, a second logo direction, an unplanned trip) get a written change order with the cost before we start the new work. No surprise invoices.
Do you do rush projects?+
Yes, with a rush premium (typically +25–50% depending on how aggressive the timeline). We'll quote it upfront. Sometimes we say no — if the timeline would force a bad outcome, we'd rather lose the project than ship something we'd be embarrassed by.
What we do (and don't)
Where our work starts and stops.
Do you do logos only?+
Rarely. A logo without a typographic system, color, and usage rules is just a mark — it falls apart the moment you apply it to anything. We strongly recommend at least the Essential tier of Brand & Identity ($1.5–4K) so the logo is supported by a system.
Will you redesign a single page on my existing site?+
Usually yes via our Web Maintenance Retainer ($400–$1,200/mo). For one-off page redesigns under a retainer, minimum $1,500.
Do you do SEO?+
We build technical SEO foundations into every site we ship — semantic HTML, schema markup, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals optimization, accessibility. We don't do keyword research, content strategy, or link building — those need a specialist SEO partner working alongside us, which we're happy to recommend.
Do you build mobile apps?+
No. We'll partner with a mobile dev team if your project needs a native iOS/Android app. We design app interfaces, but the build is outside our scope.
Do you work in any CMS or only some?+
Our default stack is Next.js + Sanity for marketing sites and Shopify Plus for commerce. We're opinionated because we ship faster on our preferred stack. If you have a strong existing setup (Webflow, Wordpress, Contentful, etc.) we can work in it, but the project may take longer.
The Avant Garde Network
How Studio fits into the bigger conglomerate.
What's the relationship between Studio and Launchpad?+
Studio is the design and web arm. Launchpad is the multi-discipline monthly retainer operation that combines all the Avant Garde brands (Media, Drone, 360, Portraits, Weddings, Events, Studio) into one mission. If you need ongoing multi-channel work — web + content + social + photo + video — Launchpad is the better fit. If you need a discrete design or web project, hire Studio directly.
Can Studio be part of a Launchpad retainer?+
Yes. Launchpad clients can pull in Studio capacity as part of their monthly allocation. Most do.
Do the network brands ever work on the same project?+
Often. A typical example: Studio designs and ships a restaurant's website, Media shoots the food and interior, Drone covers the building and neighborhood, 360 captures a walkthrough — and it all goes live the same day, on-brand because it's one design team.
Can I hire Media or Drone separately, without Studio?+
Yes. Each brand in the Network operates standalone for à la carte clients. Visit the individual brand sites for more.
Process & handoff
What working together actually feels like.
How involved do I need to be?+
Less than you think. We send weekly progress recaps and tag you for review at 3–5 specific decision points per project. If you want to be more involved you can be (we share working files, weekly Friday-zoom is an option), but most clients are happiest checking in async.
What tools do you use that I'll need access to?+
Figma for design review (free for you, just need an account). Notion for the project hub (we set up a shared page). Slack Connect or email for day-to-day. Loom for async video walkthroughs. That's it.
What do I actually receive at the end of a project?+
Source files (Figma library, Illustrator/Photoshop where used, AE motion projects), exported assets in every format we promised (PNG, SVG, PDF, ICO, etc.), a brand guide PDF, design tokens (CSS/JSON) for web work, and for sites: the deployed live site + repo access. Everything labeled, no scavenger hunt.
Do you provide ongoing support after launch?+
30 days of post-launch support is included on every project — bug fixes, minor tweaks, questions. After that, we offer monthly maintenance retainers ($400–$1,500/mo depending on discipline) for ongoing work.
JUST ASK.
We read every email and answer within 24 hours. If your question is good enough, we'll add it to this page.
